Unit Overview: In this Unit, students use The Atomsmith® Classroom, its Atomic Theory Timeline, Electron Configuration Lab and Orbital Lab to better understand the historical development of atomic theory, the structure of atoms, and how the number and arrangement of an atom’s electrons affect its ability to interact with other atoms, and therefore, determine the atom’s chemical properties.

Students learn to build electron configurations and then see where the electrons are in 3D space.
